Gettin' to know the South Plains Sweethearts

South Plains Sweethearts is 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to support traveling livestock exhibitors from the South Plains region at the San Antonio Junior Livestock Auction.

A lil bit about us

South Plains Sweethearts was established in 2022 after Red Raider friends, Sarah Logan, Ashleigh Mimms, and Taddy Beuke attended the San Antonio Junior Livestock Auction. We noticed the amount of exhibitors who traveled to the Alamo City from the South Plains and saw an opportunity to reward West Texas youth for their hard work. These exhibitors have spent countless hours caring for these animals, preparing them for judging and the opportunity to sell them in one of the most prestigious Junior Livestock Auctions in the nation. Less than 10% of animals exhibited in the Junior Livestock Show qualify for the Junior Livestock Auction.  As 4-H parents and FFA supporters, we understand how much time, effort, and responsibility go into raising animals for livestock shows!

In 2025, the South Plains Sweethearts became a Gold Contributor at the 2025 San Antonio Junior Livestock Auction. We were able to contribute $63,650 to 153 lamb, goat, barrow & steer exhibitors involved in 34 FFA chapters and 13 4H clubs located across the South Plains!

To date we have contributed over $135,000 to South Plains exhibitors at the San Antonio Junior Livestock Auction!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at connect@southplainsweethearts.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

After months of caring for their animals, Texas 4-H and FFA youth exhibitors bring their animals to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo in February to be exhibited and judged. Livestock Projects teach our youth important lessons in responsibility, problem-solving, decision making, leadership, communication, hard work and dedication. Species of livestock that may be shown include pigs, cattle, sheep, goats, and steers.

Exhibitors whose animals are judged as the top in their classes are eligible to sell their projects through a live auction. Money bid on the animal project is paid to the exhibitor via the San Antonio Livestock Auction so that he/she may continue their show experiences and educational endeavors. The South Plains Sweethearts will be bidding the minimum amount ($300 & $500 for steers) on as many West Texas exhibitors as we can with your generous donation!

We are always looking for help to spread the word! If you would like to help raise funds or know of a business or individual who would be interested in helping the Sweethearts, please let us know!
