South Plains Sweethearts is 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to support traveling livestock exhibitors from the South Plains region at the San Antonio Junior Livestock Auction.
South Plains Sweethearts: Supporting the Next Generation of West Texas Agriculture
Founded in 2022 by Red Raider friends Sarah Logan, Ashleigh Mimms, and Taddy Beuke, South Plains Sweethearts was born after a visit to the San Antonio Junior Livestock Auction. Inspired by the remarkable number of young exhibitors from the South Plains region, we saw a unique opportunity to reward and uplift West Texas youth for their dedication to agriculture.
These young exhibitors invest countless hours raising, training, and caring for their animals — all in hopes of earning a coveted spot in one of the most prestigious junior livestock auctions in the country. With fewer than 10% of animals making it to the auction ring, just qualifying is an incredible accomplishment.
As 4-H parents and longtime FFA supporters, we understand the extraordinary time, effort, and responsibility that go into preparing for livestock shows. That’s why we’re committed to recognizing and rewarding the hard work of South Plains youth.
In 2025, South Plains Sweethearts proudly became a Gold Contributor at the San Antonio Junior Livestock Auction. We contributed $63,650 in support of 153 exhibitors — including lamb, goat, barrow, and steer participants — representing 34 FFA chapters and 13 4-H clubs across the South Plains.
To date, we’ve contributed over $135,000 to South Plains youth participating in the San Antonio Junior Livestock Auction — and we’re just getting started!

After months of caring for their animals, Texas 4-H and FFA youth exhibitors bring their animals to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo in February to be exhibited and judged. Livestock Projects teach our youth important lessons in responsibility, problem-solving, decision making, leadership, communication, hard work and dedication. Species of livestock that may be shown include pigs, cattle, sheep, goats, and steers.
Exhibitors whose animals are judged as the top in their classes are eligible to sell their projects through a live auction. Money bid on the animal project is paid to the exhibitor via the San Antonio Livestock Auction so that he/she may continue their show experiences and educational endeavors. The South Plains Sweethearts will be bidding the minimum amount ($300 & $500 for steers) on as many West Texas exhibitors as we can with your generous donation!
We are always looking for help to spread the word! If you would like to help raise funds or know of a business or individual who would be interested in helping the Sweethearts, please let us know!
